A final warm-up round before the British Open in 2 weeks finds Rick, Steve, and Todd burning up the grass at Sycamore Creek.

Steve blazed out to an early lead with a par on the 1st leaving in his dust Todd (bogey) and Rick (triple-bogey) after 1. Rick gained a spark by gaining a shot on the leader at the difficult par-4 3rd. Todd did the same by parring the par-5 5th after falling a few shots behind. The match simmered until the long, pesky, omg-don’t-hit-that-car-in-the-road, par-3 8th when Rick scorched in a birdie to take a 2 shot advantage which is where we found the lead after 9. Todd found himself in 2nd at the turn while Steve found himself a little heated at 5 back.

Rick double-bogeyed the lengthy par-4 10th to see his lead dowsed to 1. But nothing worse than a bogey coming home kept his fire ablaze. The par-5 14th again played a pivotal part in the match as Steve and Todd double and triple-bogeyed respectful. Steve threw some gasoline on his fire by lighting up a birdie on the par-3 16th but it was too little, too late. Rick matched Steve 42 on the back and seared his name on the title for his first back-to-back victories on tour.
