Another casual round and final preps for the annual Donkey Cup trip finds Steve, replacing Mike, alongside Rick and Todd this time around at Sycamore Creek. What form will the golfers be going into the Myrtle weekend? Who can handle the early season conditions? We’ll see at as the small group takes on the Par 70 track.

Steve jumped out to an early lead by finding only the second birdie on the downhill Par 4 1st to date. His strong start continued, only being 2-over through 5. Rick and Todd struggled to keep pace falling back 5 and 6 shots respectfully, helped by a double-par by Rick on the 5th and triple-bogey by Todd on the 3rd. However, Steve came back to the pack with his double-par on the Par-4 6th and a par by Rick on the Par-3 8th. All 3 bogeyed the 9th to find Steve with a 1 shot lead at the turn over Rick, and 4 shots over Todd.

After parring the Par-3 11th, Rick took a 1 shot lead, while Steve fought to keep pace. Todd continued to struggle until the Par-5 14th, finding birdie, but this would not be enough to make up the difference. This hole would turn out to be the decisive hole of the match as Rick found a quadruple-bogey to Steve’s par, putting the match out of reach and paving the way for another Steve victory on tour and his third of the young season.
