Stonehouse Golf Club
“Located just outside Williamsburg, Virginia, Stonehouse is laid over wild, tumbling hills near the York River in the Tidewater Region. Stonehouse winds over 6,962 yards of steep forested hills, wide plateaus, and abrupt ravines. Against this tumultuous backdrop, the danger of deep bunkers and long carries is balanced by the relative safety of broad fairways and enormous putting greens.”
RAGA take: Stonehouse is probably one of the more unique courses in central Virginia. Welcomed on the first tee with a short, dog-leg right par 4 with a significant drop to the green on your approach. The variety of tee options, the undulations, and tight, tree-lined holes, coupled with streams and other narrow hazards follows the new tradition for courses built in the mid-Atlantic in the last two decades. The tract also includes long-ish par 3s and short par 4s, another common characteristic of modern courses. Your trip around Stonehouse will wind you through, over, under, and around a beautiful piece of tidewater land.
