Kiskiack Golf Club

“Set along the ridge of a natural bluff, Kiskiack offers a day of golf for players of all levels. As our award winning architect John LaFoy said “after playing Kiskiack, 18 golfers may each have a different favorite hole.” Many of the picturesque holes demand accurate shot making from tee to green, while others are more forgiving – with ample landing areas and gentle sloping greens. The front nine lets you relax as the course winds through mature hardwoods and over natural, rolling hills before a challenging uphill finish along one of the two lakes that come into play throughout the round. On the back nine, you are challenged by the signature 11th hole. This par-3 requires accuracy to negotiate a green surrounded by water on three sides and well protected by bunkers.”

RAGA take: A shorter course makes this option accessible for even the average driver. However, don’t let the reasonable length fool you, thick rough, deep bunkers, and fast greens makes accuracy and focus a necessity to shoot a low score. Few water hazards and forgiving holes create a sense of security for when the signature par 3 11th jumps out at you. With water protecting the peninsula green, the only bail out is long and left. The remaining back nine is tucked back on the property and finds tree-lined fairways that do not favor a slice, elevations changes, and a finishing hole with a daunting tee shot over water. With all that said, this course has birdie opportunities and a chance for low scores.

Williamsburg, VA offers several outstanding golf courses and The Crossings is certainly one of them. Conveniently located just off I-64 east of Richmond at mile marker 231.
